Welcome to Year 6!

Highlight of the Week 09/5/2022: Congratulations Year 6! You have all worked so extremely hard and have showed a great deal of perseverance and determination! As part of our afternoons this week, we have been looking at using different techniques to create artistic sunsets and the outcomes look fantastic.

      

      

Highlight of the Week 25/4/2022: Year 6 have started this term off with a bang! Our WOW Day included trying a variety of Caribbean food such as macaroni pie, veggie Jamaican patties, plantain, banana fritters and fried dumplings. We have also started learning about where in the world the Caribbean islands can be found and how many different regions there are. Interesting fact: There are only 13 sovereign states and there are 17 dependent territories.

          

Highlight of the Week 28/3/2022: Year 6 have had a fabulous term. Planning, designing and creating their masterpieces!

      

Highlight of the Week 21/3/2022: Year 6 D & T project in full swing! We have been creating our own board games including dice, counters, questions and boards.

        

Highlight of the Week 14/3/2022: This week Year 6 have started to make their board game creations come to life. They have started using a variety of materials to create the board, dice, counters and anything else they may have thought of adding.

      

Highlight of the Week 07/3/2022: Year 6 had fun learning about circuits and trying out different ways to create a functioning circuit. Afterwards, they learnt how to draw them in the format of a scientific diagram. Well done Year 6!

         

Highlight of the Week 28/2/2022: This half-term Year 6 children have the opportunity to explore Greek War Dance with Premier Education. They are using the knowledge from History last term to explore movement to represent battles, such as The Battle of Marathon.

    

Highlight of the Week 21/2/2022: Year 6 have started their new Crime & Punishment unit with a bang! The case of Mr Wolf was not as simple as we initially suspected. Mr Wolf’s fate was in the jury’s hands after the Defence and Prosecution made their case. The outcome: He was found guilty!

         

Highlight of the Week 07/2/2022: Amazing recycling art projects!

Highlight of the Week 24/1/2022: We have been investigating how light travels in straight lines. Not only that, but we had fun looking at how light travels through different materials. In RE, we have started looking at what great leaders we know and have started what qualities make a great leader.

     

Highlight of the Week 17/1/2022: This week we have been looking at how to push our language to create a vivid image in the reader’s mind. Children have looked at uplevelling their writing using thesauruses. We have really enjoyed looking at all the mythical creatures of Spiderwick.
